Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Ithaca is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Ithaca peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. An enjoyable experience in downtown Ithaca. The decor is very plain, with tables and chairs not much different from a hole in the wall diner in the 1950s. The service is spotty but the food is good, even if the glasses of water are filled sparingly and infrequently. Like all restaurants these days, prices have skyrocketed. $15 for a bowl full of rice or Ramen noodles, topped with the distinctive part of the dish, seems absurdly high for someone raised in the five-dollars-gets-you-a-really-good-meal era. The Buns are good. Donβt feel afraid to ask your server how you should eat them. It isnβt obvious. You can make an interesting meal out of two or three Buns I ordered a ramen dish and received a rice dish. No problem, I was just experimenting, but that speaks to the service. This restaurant uses the "tablet in front of the server" billing system. This is gauche and embarrassing because it forces you to figure and add the tip in front of the server. Further, there is no "back" button so, if you make a mistake, you cannot undo it.

Absolutely amazing ramen! I had the Tantan ramen. The broth was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, and the noodles had the perfect texture. The ingredients were fresh, the portions were generous, and every bite was delicious. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. The restaurant was clean and had a cozy atmosphere. Easily one of the best ramen places Iβve been toβI canβt wait to come back. Highly recommended!!

This small restaurant serves a very tasty tofu-beef-stew. Staffed by a helpful and attentive waitress who was kind enough to help an uninitiated traveler from rural Ohio (the egg can be cracked into the soup). The cook played 1950βs crooners in the kitchen. I would come regularly if I lived here.

My boyfriend and I have gone here a couple times before and it was always delicious, however they have now rebranded to βMaru Koreaβ and have an entirely new menu! I was a bit worried at first because i was a big fan of their Tonkotsu, but the meal i got was SO good! The service was super fast and friendly, the restaurant was clean (although it always is!) and the server even brought us two complimentary courses while we were waiting on our food. 10/10 highly recommend!!

If youβre in Ithaca and havenβt been to Maru Ramen, honestlyβ¦ what are you doing?! Iβve been going since they first opened and it seems to be getting better each year! The ramen(my personal favorite) has broth that is always rich and flavorful without being overly salty, and the noodles are perfectly chewy. I've tried plenty of other items on their menu (like the purple rice roll pic) and everything is delicious. I also love the casual, relaxed vibe of the space, and the service is always friendly and quick. Overall, Maru Ramen really nails it on flavor, service, and consistency. Definitely worth checking out!
